my favorite number of degrees

23 degrees C is my new favorite number of degrees. It´s so perfect here I could just make cookies out of the weather and eat them all year long. I met a fellow traveler and we ventured out into the day, ending up in a bird sanctuary on the Rio de la Plata. OMG these Argentine birds sure do yellow well. Other colors, too. I sat in the shade, breathing the good airs, listening to bird songs. If I did this all day, every day, for 3 months, I would consider the trip a success. And, I think that is exactly what I`m going to do for the rest of the year.

Artentinian business folk did a bit of celebrating today, in anticipation of the new year. At the end of this last work day of 2008, in office buildings all around Buenos Aires, windows opened and the leaves of page-a-day calendars floated out onto the breeze, confetti style. Rolls of toilet paper unfurled and waved gracefully. Drivers in the streets below honked more than usual. It was festive. Also messy.

fireside sing-a-long

Thank you to everyone at Murphy's, especially the man with the microphone who didn't show up. I'd say we had more fun singing around the fire than we could have with a mic on stage. This was a good reminder for me that life won't fit neatly into "plans". I'd say it's a fitting start for my trip to Argentina, for which my plans so far include:
- buy a ticket to Argentina
- bring a ukulele
For everything else, I'll just have to wait and see. I know it won't be boring. And, if tonight is any hint of what's to come, it will be full of good people and ever-changing plans.

dreams of flying

Last night I had a flying dream.
I haven't had one of those since I started school.
Stressed, perhaps?
Well, not anymore. The count-down has begun...
Argentina, here I come!
